Is Visiting Napa Worth It in 2026?

Napa Valley 2026: Worth It?
Things have definitely gotten more expensive these days so I don’t blame you if you’re second guessing a trip to Napa. After all, there are wineries and wine bars everywhere, right? What makes Napa so special that you can’t get anywhere else?
Maybe it’s just the smell of ripening grapes in the air as you drive down a country road. Or perhaps it’s stopping in at a small winery where the winemaker boasts about his or her latest wines, or pulling up to an iconic winery with stunning architecture and lushly landscaped grounds. Or maybe it’s the food scene - Napa has everything from the best fried chicken to The French Laundry, one of the best restaurants in the world.
The thing is, Napa lives up to its hype. The wineries are amazing, the wines will be the best you’ve ever had, the entire experience will surpass your expectations. But is it worth it?
Napa on a Budget - Good idea or Marketing Nonsense?
For years I’ve been a proponent of visiting Napa on a budget. And that means maxing out the Priority Wine Pass deals. The wine pass gets you two for one and discount offers all over Napa - just get one pass for $39 and you’ll save at least that much at your first stop. I’ve worked with them for years and I even help them out with some of their web design - it’s legit. They let me offer the pass at their lowest price so if you need a pass get it here which also helps keep my site running.
And please, don’t buy it through Groupon - when you do I don’t get the referral fee and instead of helping a small business you’re feeding a giant corporation.
Napa is Worth it - As Long as you Listen to Me
I can make sure that you get the biggest bang for your buck when visiting Napa. It can get expensive but I cringe when I visit Napa forums and people who are NOT serious wine collectors are visiting wineries with $100+ tasting fees thinking that this is the way it is. There are plenty of wineries with reasonable fees that are awesome experiences. As for food, The French Laundry is worth it but spending a thousand bucks on dinner might not be on your agenda. That’s fine, there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants that offer exceptional food, the sort of food that makes you want to take out your phone to snap a photo before the first bite.
Overwhelmed? Just email me!
I started this site as a “one on one” experience, offering my readers the ability to interact with me directly with questions. It’s something I wish every guide book or site would do so if you have questions just reach out. I’ll help you pick wineries, restaurants, and plan your trip - all free of charge and all without any sort of bias. My goal is that when you leave Napa your last toast is to Local Wally and that you tell all of your friends about me.
