At Chimney Rock you get FREE tastings with a two bottle purchase Patland is one of only two wineries that burned down in the 2017 Napa fires but their caves are still open - FREE tastings with two bottle purchase. Get a wine pass to get these deals.
Every wondered what Mario Andretti is doing these days? He's making wine in one of Napa's prettiest settings, a bit of Old World meets Tuscany. Save $24 with your Wine Pass, lots of wine choices.
If you paid attention in the movie Bottle Shock the name Gustavo Brambila might ring a bell as the wine maker who worked with Mike Grgich to produce a wine that beat the French. Now try his new wines.
Classy tasting room on the Silverado Trail at a locattion that was once a equestrian center. Friendly staff, white and reds, though the scrumptious reds are what people come back for.
Beautiful old world sort of tasting room, a classy affair with Vic Bourassa often stopping by the tables to chat. Don't let the industrial park setting keep you away - these are stellar wines and fun experience.
Amazing success story of how a grape picker of Mexican descent was given a chance and ended up producing award winning wines. A family run winery, feels like you're part of the family when you visit.
Located in the Stags Leap District, an area famous for their cabs, come to Chimney Rock if you love big reds. Excellent whites and other varietals but the cabs are the bomb here.
Off the Silverado Trail, Hagafen Cellars is one of my favorites, a small winery with beautiful vineyard views and lots of wine choices, including a nice sparkling to start your day. And hey, their wines are Kosher.
Tucked away from the crowds and tourists is Judd's Hill, an ultra premium winery making just 3,000 cases. Get 30% off their Food and Wine Balance Seminar (resv. req) or pop in for a 2 for 1 tasting. Top Pick!
Krupp Brothers Winery
VIP treatment from the moment the private gates open and you take the drive up to the Italian villa estate. Taste in their stone bungalow, tour the beautiful grounds, reservations required.
Miner Family Winery
Looking for a winery with a view? Miner Family, located on the Silverado Trail on a hillside, will do the trick. Lovely setting, outdoor patio, walk-in's get a two for one tasting with your Priority Wine Pass.
You want to support these guys, one of only two wineries that burned to the ground in the 2017 fires. Their caves are still open and it's a great VIP experience - FREE if you buy 2 bottles, save $150.
Pine Ridge Winery
Pine Ridge produces some of Napa's finest wines and is an essential stop for wine lovers, now much more affordable with your Wine Pass. Picnic area, wine caves, appointment only.
Relic Wine Cellars
No one gets to see this winery - unless you know somebodyand you know me! FREE cave tastings with $300 purchase, or $40 per person. Excellent wines, private experience, very VIP!
Located on a hilltop on the Silverado Trail the views are stunning, espeically on a nice sunny day where you can taste on their expansive patio. Yes, it's big and corporate but the views, ahh the views!
Sometimes you don't want the hassle of picking wineries and setting up a driver - especially if you are coming with a group. You can trust Platypus, my favorite tour group. Tell them Local Wally sent ya!
Durant & Booth
Eclectic interior design, picnic tables in back, located next to Oakville Grocery, the perfect lunch spot. Grab food next door or do their VIP lunch. 2 for 1 tastings, 20% off lunch.
Home of Menage a Trois, Napa Cellars offers up easy to sip wines and an open picnic area - bring in your own food, get a glass or bottle and enjoy the laidback atrmosphere and downhome charm.
Laidback charm, this is what all Napa wineries used to be like! Priority Wine Pass gets you two for one tastings, saving you $25. Picnic tables, friendly hospitality, this could become one of your favorite stops.
Big Crowds = No Bueno
There's no denying that Napa has become one of California's top tourist destinations. But you can get away from the crowds by booking "reservation only" wineries. Look, the Napa Castle is cool but man, look at those crowds! I get it when readers tell me they want to go but for me that spot under the oak tree, taken the same day, is where I want to be. And good news, these smaller, less crowded wineries offer discounts with the Priority Wine Pass. You decide!
Remember, you only need one pass per couple and the pass is good for a full year, good in both Napa and Sonoma, and comes with free advice from me if you email me. $39.99 per couple, no crowds, 2 for 1's, I highly recommend it for my readers. And if you really want to visit the big name, full priced wineries, let me know and I'll help you pick the ones worth busting your budget on.
